OUR WINES
Our 2005 Après is a stunning dessert wine crafted in the classic Southern French “Vin de Paille” (or “straw wine”) style. Vivid aromas of dried apricot and pineapple anticipate rich Viognier fruit flavors with hints of exotic spice...
Black cherries, dried herbs and some mocha-y oak notes on the nose. Dark red fruit and varietal merlot flavors (dried herbs, earth), with substantial but smooth tannins and a long, clean finish...
The vintage of 2007 is a memorable one for most varieties in Santa Ynez Valley and
Merlot is no exception. Wonderful mixes of scents are present here. With the wine’s
youthfulness, it’s no surprise that fresh berry aromas, such as blueberries and red
raspberries, leap from the glass...
Quite melon-y on the nose, with some tropical fruit and lime notes as well. Rich but lively on the palate, with citrus as well as tropical fruit and some melon flavors. Bright acidity leads to a long, clean finish. Reminiscent, in some aspects, of both New Zealand sauvignon blanc and Loire Valley Sancerre...
Pulling the cork on this wine immediately releases classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas into
the room. The pale straw color belies the intensity and concentration of this perpetually
successful grape variety from the Happy Canyon appellation...
The 2006 syrah shows off the unique terroir that makes Westerly so special. The nose is full of dark fruits, smoke, spice and pepper, with the palate showing more of the same, with a very rich mouthfeel and nice balance of fruit, oak and tannins. The wine is quite round and rich, with a smooth mouthfeel and quiet finish.
Our Viognier grapes are picked fairly ripe, to ensure the development of the intense floral and fruit aromas that truly distinguish the varietal. The 2006 Viognier begins with an elegant floral bouquet, suggesting orange blossoms, honeysuckle and hints of citrus and stone fruits...
The complex and layered aromas of Viognier are what typically makes this varietal so
fascinating. So much is happening in the 2008: Honeysuckle, orange cream, apple,
freesia, cardamom, clove, and finally white pepper. Wow...
Our “W” is a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, two varietals that bring synergistic qualities to the wine. The Cabernet Franc component is tannic and earthy, while the Merlot component fills out the palate with smooth, rounded fruit. True to form, our 2002 “W” boasts a bouquet of cassis and plum with accents of dusty earth and spicy oak...
Our 2006 “W” blanc is a Rhône-style blend that showcases Roussanne with the supporting contribution of Viognier. Roussanne is a varietal that is less about fruit and more about a sense of terroir and texture. Viognier gives a “lift” to Roussanne’s more subtle attributes, filling out the mouthfeel and flavor profile. Our “W” blanc begins with inviting aromas of citrus, honey and roasted nuts, with hints of minerals..
